Thinking It Through

lightupandlive asked: You and your love are adorable. Thank you for bringing a bit more beauty to the world.

Thank you. On behalf of the squeeze and myself let me say that we both think you are adorable too and this was a very sweet message to receive.

Anonymous asked: confession: i found myself thinking of you the last time i had sex with someone.

I am really behind on my tumblr-ing, but I will take this as a compliment and wonder why the nicest compliments come anonymously.

susienotsusan asked: i miss you

I miss you too boo. I hope that you and Adrian are having a good time in Disney. You are the best Gerald and your about to enter a very exciting period in your life!

I saw this on a friends Facebook as an illustration of the ways that consensus kills creativity. I had been reflecting on it for a few days and I am just not totally convinced that this is true. Over the past year I have been working as a part of a team of activists who operate largely based on a consensus model. I serve a sort of coordinating role in the group, but overall we try very hard to make decisions through consensus and collaboration. There are many many many challenges to this model and at times it is exhausting. If you don’t have a good rapport with the people you are working with it can be impossible and I don’t think straight up consensus would work for large groups. I am currently trying to come up with some systems to make this collaborative approach work better.
What I will say though is that many of the successes we have had wouldn’t had been possible without using consensus as the foundation. I am wondering if even artists, painters, designers, composers - those that are the most talented don’t use some model of collaboration/consensus?

Tomorrow’s Goals:

mc-hammertime:

1. Finish the paperwork for Spectrum’s office.

2. Update my resume.

3. Start thinking about packing.

4. PACK ??? (doubt it)

I’m hoping sending them into the Universe will stop the list from running around my head all night. This not being able to fall asleep thing is getting old.

And get CCA’s finances in order!
